About the author:
I am Milica Žikic Herder, writer and creator of The Writing Class (as well as founder of ANTI Magazine).
I was born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia. I have lived in Belgrade, New York and Philadelphia and these three cities will forever be a home to me. Other than writing, I am passionate about dancing and reading. I love ballet, theater, music, books, coffee, flowers, chocolate, dogs, the seaside.
These are some of the things that inspire me – as well as nature, big cities, everyday life, my husband, my favorite songs, writers, movies.
I graduated from Bryn Athyn College. I have been writing since I can remember; although my first serious job was writing a special edition magazine about Red Hot Chili Peppers, prior to their concert in Serbia, in 2007.
In the past 10 years, I have been writing for different magazines, online and print publications, I have written over 1000 articles and one e-book, Euphoria – a collection of poems and short stories; for now, only available in Serbian language.
My mentors and influence when it comes to writing (and life) are my dad Aleksandar Žikić, Serbian writer and rock’n’roll journalist, as well as my grandparents.
My grandpa had the greatest impact on me during my childhood and grown-up life. He also happens to be my biggest ‘fan’ and support, reading every single thing I write over and over again. He taught me to never stop learning, because knowledge is the only thing that cannot be taken away, encouraged me to always read as much as I can, and to write every day. I will be forever grateful and proud to have a role model and a lifetime inspiration such as him.
Currently, I am living and writing between Belgrade and Philadelphia with the love of my life, my husband Stuart Leonard Herder.
My new book ‘Fragment’ will be out in 2025.
